The Western Australian Government, through the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC), has launched the Small Business Growth Grants Program, offering matched funding of up to $10,000 to support growth-focused professional services. The program began accepting applications on August 4, 2025, and runs until 5:00 pm AWST, October 3, 2025, or until the $1 million funding pool is fully allocated.
Eligible applicants receive a voucher which is paid directly to the service provider—not to the business itself—after the services are delivered. It’s important to note that this is not a retrospective grant; the expenditure must occur after the voucher is issued.
To be eligible, businesses must:
Be for-profit, have held an ABN and been GST-registered continuously since on or before 1 January 2024, with their principal place of business in WA.
Demonstrate continuance of operations in WA with no plans to cease in the foreseeable future.
Meet financial thresholds:
Regional businesses: turnover over $100,000, located in regional WA for at least 12 months.
Metropolitan businesses (Perth region): turnover over $200,000.
Have an Australia-wide payroll under $4 million, and between 1 to 20 full-time equivalent employees.
Provide an unredacted PDF of a 2025 business bank statement (showing transactions, BSB, account number, and business name).
Ineligible applicants include not-for-profits, charities, educational or government institutions, industry associations, businesses with outstanding grant obligations, insolvent entities, and those with conflicts-of-interest.
The vouchers can co-fund expert services across a broad range of business growth areas, including:
Strategic planning, business continuity, risk, and expansion strategies
Workforce development and people management
Marketing, branding, communications, and digital marketing
Market research, export readiness, tender preparation
Governance, finance planning, ICT strategy, cybersecurity
Work Health & Safety, supply chain management, business improvement, records management
Mentoring and coaching—especially to utilize the services effectively
The program encourages applicants to engage WA-based service providers, with preference given if demand exceeds supply.
These Growth Grants are a key part of the Cook Government’s 2025 election commitments, reinforcing its support for small businesses.
Businesses form a cornerstone of WA’s economy, contributing over $50 billion annually.
The program offers a powerful opportunity for businesses to access tailored expert advice while driving local economic circulation—benefiting both sponsors and service providers.
